Alpin Haus announces new location at Clifton Park Center

New store expands pool and spa services and ski shop offerings

Clifton Park, N.Y. – [March 2, 2010] - Alpin Haus, one of the Northeast’s largest outdoor retailers, has announced plans to open a new 6,000 square foot pool and ski shop in southern Saratoga County. The new store will be located in the remodeled Clifton Park Center and is projected to open for business in May 2010.

Alpin Haus plans to hire approximately 15 new full and part-time associates to staff the operation.

“We are thrilled to make available to residents of Saratoga County and the immediate Capital District our award winning lineup of pools, spas, skis and snowboards in a convenient and easily accessible location,” said Andy Heck, president of Alpin Haus. “We couldn’t be happier with the timing and partnership with Clifton Park Center that will enable us to make this address our Capital District hub for all kinds of summer and winter recreation equipment.”

The Clifton Park store will complement Alpin Haus’ flagship operation in Amsterdam by offering an expansive pool and spa section that will feature in-ground and above ground model pools; computerized water testing; weekly pool cleanings; service for all makes of pools; and a large selection of pool and patio furniture featuring Telescope Casual furniture.

Additionally, the new store will offer a wide make of skis and snowboards; tune-ups and services; and a variety of winter sports-related apparel and accessories from the industry’s leading brands and manufacturers, including The North Face, UGG Australia, Spyder, Burton, Roxy, Volkl, K2, Volcom, and Under Armour.

Alpin Haus to expand services and offerings with plans for two new store locations

AMSTERDAM, NY, December 7, 2009 – Alpin Haus, one of the Northeast’s largest outdoors retailers, plans to open two new locations within the next 4 to 12 months: a store in Saratoga County that will feature skis, pools and hot tubs and an RV dealership outside of the Capital Region.

The company announced Monday that the expansion is being fueled by growth in consumer demand for two of its core staples: winter sports equipment such as skis, snowboards and apparel; and pools, including spas and hot tubs.

“We are optimistic about future business opportunities based on the current trends in two of our major revenue generating areas,” said Andy Heck, president of Alpin Haus. “This strategic plan for 2010 and beyond will allow us to take advantage of the burgeoning demand for basic winter and summer recreational equipment, plus will afford us the opportunity to strategically reposition our RV supply channels. Our goal is to simultaneously increase our RV inventory and reduce the sales overlap that currently exists.”

Currently, three of Alpin Haus’ four area retail outlets offer RVs, including its Clifton Park store at 103 Sitterly Road and its nearby Saratoga dealership, 30 Gordon Lane in Gansevoort, both of which are located along the I-87 corridor.

Alpin Haus plans to replace its Clifton Park store with a new Saratoga location by the spring 2010. The new operation will primarily focus on pool sales and service in anticipation of a strong rebound in the housing market; and on sales of skis and snowboards in response to heightened consumer demand for winter sports apparel and equipment.

The company plans to relocate all store associates to its new and existing locations and hire additional employees to meet staffing needs.

The strategic repositioning will have the effect of channeling the majority of local RV traffic to Alpin Haus’ Thruway location on Route 5S west of Amsterdam.

Alpin Haus also announced plans to open a new RV dealership outside of the Capital Region. The company is currently assessing various options.

Alpin Haus will maintain its flagship store at Route 30 in Amsterdam which offers boats, pools, spas, skis and other winter sports equipment and apparel.
