With so many different options, picking the right snowboard can be overwhelming. There are a few considerations when picking out a snowboard. These considerations are just a few factors our knowledgeable staff will ask you about when you’re shopping for your best board. With so many technical aspects to consider when selecting a new snowboard, you can always ask our friendly staff to help in finding the perfect match for you, or attend our Demo Day later in the season.

Whether you are a beginner or experienced snowboarder Alpin Haus will have the perfect match for you! Come into either our Clifton Park or Amsterdam Rt 30 Ski Shops for helpful information and expert guidance on which snowboard is the best fit for you.

An Individual’s Ability

Typically a beginner will be on a shorter, more flexible board to allow for more flexibility and forgiveness when entering and exiting a turn.

Preferred Riding Style

Riders who spend the majority of their time riding at higher speeds on groomers might select a stiffer, longer, “camber” shaped board for optimal edge grip; while park and glade riders will select shorter, more flexible, rocker shaped boards that allow for maximum maneuverability.

Snow Type/Terrain

Riders who mostly go to mountains with high snowfall totals will often select longer, wider and more rocker shaped boards for maximum floatation on top of the fresh snow; while riders who go to mountains with lower total snowfall will benefit from a smaller, camber style board.
